The SmartSaws Rough Mill Cross-Cut Optimizer is a full featured automatic cut-off saw designed for high throughput 3 shifts a day 7 days a week. The state of the art optimization engine allows for the small foot print while still being able to fully optimize the longest boards. Before purchasing your automatic cutoff saw, do a side by side comparison of the optimization engine. There are more than 2 to the power of N optimization choices (N=Number of Cuts), so not all optimization engines deliver the optimal solution. More importantly, not all cutoff saws offer first in first out batch processing of your orders. We can process orders on a first in first out basis keeping the yield constant throughout the production process. The machine operator simply enters orders as they come in. All the thinking and decision making is handled by the Smart optimization engine. During order processing, cuts may be taken from the next order to keep the yield constant. Outline of Operation

  • The cutbills are entered using the easy to use touch screen interface. Each cutbill is assigned any of the yield, value, ratio, or batch ratio optimization modes.
  • The separately sold infeed system deals boards to the cutoff saw optimizer with minimal gap between boards for maximum production.
  • The cutoff saw optimizer scans the incoming boards for grade, width, and defects.
  • The cuts matching the width and grade are selected (including lower grade cuts if merging grades is selected) and the board is cut based on the optimization mode selected.
  • The cut pieces are then sorted on the separately sold sorter.
