The fastest and most precise rip saw feeder

SmartSaws Rip Saw Optimizer

Why choose the SmartSaws Rip Saw Optimizer?

  • Reliable, robust, and user friendly.
  • The fastest fenceless rip saw feeder.
  • Sidebend and width detection for an accurate "first-solution" display.
  • Joystick operation to change, shift, or skew the solution.
  • Pick and place operation allows you to skew the board for maximum yield.
  • Automatic Value (Ratio) optimization allows you to cut to your required amounts.
  • Track your production from any location with state of the art web based reporting.
  • Track your lumber supplier by collecting statistical data on your valuable lumber.
  • Easily network multiple machines for unison operation.
  • Communicates with the SmartSaws Cross-Cut Optimizer for increased yields.
  • Get 24/7 technical support.

Outline of Operation

  • At any given time, the system is processing up to four boards:
    • The oldest board is being ripped.
    • The third board is "parked" until the rip saw is ready to accept another board.
    • The second board is defected by the operator
    • The newest board is being scanned for sidebend and width.
  • First the board is dealt into the high resolution sidebend and width detector.
  • Then the system calculates the best solution for the board and displays laser lines where the saw will cut.
  • The operator may then perform any of the follwing actions:
    • Change the solution by moving the joystick up or down. This allows the operator to avoid cutting on a defect.
    • Shift the entire solution right or left by moving the joystick right or left.
    • Skew the board by twisting the joystick control.
  • When the solution for the board is perfect, the operator triggers the "fire" button of the joystick to start the board ripping operation.
  • The board is then lifted and transferred to the parking position until the time the rip saw is ready to accept the next board.
  • In the meantime, a new board is scanned.
